Rankings internacionales como fuentes de información para la gobernanza universitaria

análisis de los sesgos culturales y de la violencia simbólica

Resumen

Se analizan los sesgos culturales presentes en los rankings universitarios internacionales y se discuten sus efectos sobre la gobernanza universitaria a partir de la Sociología de la Ciencia y de la Organización del Conocimiento. Se parte del entendimiento de que tales rankings no constituyen simples instrumentos técnicos de comparación, sino que operan como formas de consagración y violencia simbólica, al tiempo que constituyen modalidades específicas de Sistemas de Organización del Conocimiento (SOC). Metodológicamente, se trata de una investigación bibliográfica de carácter analítico-interpretativo, apoyada en la literatura internacional sobre rankings universitarios y en una discusión teórica orientada a las dimensiones clasificatoria y representacional de estos instrumentos. Los resultados muestran que los rankings, además de operar como instrumentos de evaluación, tienden a naturalizar criterios situados como parámetros legítimos de excelencia, reforzando asimetrías de naturaleza anglófona, geopolítica, disciplinar y reputacional. Se concluye que su aparente objetividad encubre elecciones situadas, con efectos sobre el reconocimiento, la jerarquización institucional y la gobernanza universitaria.
